'service lsws restart' essentially is '/etc/init.d/lsws restart' which doesn't not show any status.
'/usr/local/lsws/bin/lswsctrl restart' does prompt with status.
/etc/init.d/lsws is a wrapper of /usr/local/lsws/bin/lswsctrl if you look at that script.
So if you would like to see status, use lswsctrl. The drawback is that you have to remember the full path.
