Force Version Change For All Existing Installations - good idea or not?

Hello.
I was just having a look around LiteSpeed settings on one of our servers, and noticed the option to "Force Version Change For All Existing Installations". (see uploaded file).

I'm torn between
1. It's smart to keep everything updated to the latest version (theoretical better performance, security, etc.)
AND
2. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Which approach should I take?

the uploaded file is for lscache for wordpress plugin.
I'd recommend 1). plus: remember current working version. revert to it in case of latest version may fail.
lscache plugin don't change anything in DB. and site can work without the whole plugin. and easy to upgrade to latest version and revert back to previous version. so it's good for this approach.
