Stable vs. Legacy Releases

Today I was updating LiteSpeed to the latest version and didn't realise till after that I actually updated to the Stable Release version.

So we had 5.0.18, and the option to upgrade through WHM gave me 5.1.9.

I didn't really look at it properly and just saw 18 > 19.

The upgrade is done and everything seems to be working fine. After looking into it a bit more, I found the page on your website that lists the Stable and Legacy Releases. Before finding that out, I wasn't aware that we were running a 'Legacy' version.

What are the key differences between the two? Why would we have been running Legacy? And is it OK to move to the Stable version?

Of course, the latest stable version is always recommended.
You can use our version manager to upgrade LiteSpeed, or do so through the command line using:

/usr/local/lsws/admin/misc/lsup.sh -f -v <version>

There are many improvements in version 5.1.x, such as mod_security. You can check the release log for more details.

Hi Pong - thanks for getting back to me.

I guess I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be a specific reason we were on legacy version.

The stable version seems to be working fine so far - so will keep going with it for now.
